Appointed of Dr. Charles Rogers, an alumnus and former faculty member of Purdue University as assistant professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at Rose Polytechnic Insititute has been announced by Dean Herman A. Moench. Born and educated in Crawfordsville, Mr. Rogers was for four years an instructor at Purdue and received the Bachelor and Master of Science degrees and in 1960 the Dr. of Philosophy degree from that institution. Dr. Rogers was associated also with the Collins Radio Company at Cedar Rapids, Iowa and was for two years electronics officer at the Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron at Rockville. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi honorary engineering fraternity; Sigma Xi honorary research fraternity; the Institute of Radio Engineers and the American Society of Engineering Education. His wife, the former Marjorie Andersen is the daughter of Mrs. Viola Andersen and the late Rev. Anton Andersen of Crawfordsville.  Rev. Andersen died three years ago at his mission station at Tshene near Kikwit in the Belgian Congo. Mrs. Rogers, who was born in Crawfordsville grew up in the Congo and lived there for about 17 years, Dr. Rogers said.  Mrs. Andersen was able to leave the mission station on extremely short notice very soon after the Congo received its independence. Dr. and Mrs. Rogers and their children, Kim 5 and Cheryl 4 live at 120 North 36th Street.
